Three students who represent less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors as National Merit semifinalists and 46 members of the undefeated football team from Henry A. Wise High School, who won the State 4A championship, were among those celebrated by parents and school officials for their academic, artistic and athletic achievements at Charles Herbert Flowers High School on Tuesday night.
They filed across the auditorium stage to accept awards from members of the Prince George’s County Board of Education during its annual awards program.
“Know that we are proud of you,” said Alvin Crawley, the interim superintendent, at the start of the ceremony. “You add to the success of our Prince George’s County community.”
Mara Moran, Niko Schultz and Sonia Zhang, all students at Eleanor Roosevelt High School, were honored for being selected as 2013 National Merit semifinalists.
