The Washington Redskins were named the Green Business of the Year by the Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce.
The award was given to the franchise for their commitment to installing renewable energy at FedEx Field. After more than 8,000 solar panels were installed at the stadium, FedEx Field now boasts as being the largest source of renewable energy in the region.
All told, the three different types of solar panels installed will generate two megawatts of electricity.
The panels, which cover 850 parking spaces, provide a portion of the stadium’s electricity needs on game days and handles all of its needs on non-game days.
