Student life at Dwight D. Eisenhower and other middle schools inPrince George's Countyis going to look at lot different next school year.
An extended day, more students and new bus routes have all been approved, or are being discussed, by the Board of Education. With a shifting of area sixth-graders from elementary to middle school, Eisenhower will expand by around 150 students next year, and will be seeing more of them, too: Eisenhower's school day, like other county middle schools, has been extended by 40 minutes.
Moving sixth-graders to the middle schools was approved as part of a redistricting plan put through earlier this year, said Rosalind Johnson, District 1 representative on thePrince George's CountyBoard of Education. Johnson said District 1 schools would be able to handle the change easily.
