As part of an ongoing effort to attract new businesses to Prince George’s, the County Council is hosting a town hall meeting Thursday to discuss proposals to streamline the county’s permitting process.

Obtaining development-related permits in the county has long been criticized by business leaders and officials for being slow and redundant, making the county less attractive to new businesses than other jurisdictions.

it's about time for someone to please stop having such stringent laws for permits process. i do believe that if these laws are somewhat "knocked down"or curtailed, more business would think about operating a more sufficient and effective business in prince george's county. right now, some business people tend to think that we have so much bureaucreatic laws, that did not want to try and build a building here, or have a viable food chain here, especially a place that is family friendly as well as single friendly to eat fine cuisine foods! living here in upper marlboro, we do not have decent places that we can go a couple of blocks and have a family oriented meal whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner. i really think that we missed out on a vast opportunity when we did not get cracker barrel in this area because of this permit process-- it's too stringent and not enough room for flexibility! wise up everyone, politicians and councilmen and women, we want more especially in this area of upper marlboro, md where the homes are very well maintained!
