After successfully expanding the police department to more than 1,400 officers and decreasing crime by more than 25 percent, the Johnson administration continued its commitment to public safety by unveiling another milestone - a $76 million 700MHZ communications radio system. "During my time as County Executive I have made many important announcements, but none as are important as the one I'm making today," Johnson said. "After being known as the communication gap in the region for many years, today we are closing that gap by launching a new state-of-the-art radio system."

...This past year also became another banner year for major businesses wanting to be a part of The Gateway to the East where the National Harbor welcomes visitors around the world. The Walt Disney Corporation decided to make Gorgeous Prince George's its new home for its latest entertainment resort – making it the seventh hotel resort to come to the National Harbor.

...Is it no wonder that Prince George's County was awarded the annual "Economic Engine" award by the Maryland Office of Tourism Development's for outstanding jobs creation, positive economic impact to the region and the State?

...The county used funds this past year to open the brand new animal shelter in Upper Marlboro, breaking ground for a new library in Bowie, opening a health center for expectant mothers in Cheverly and building a performance theatre.
