I am a single mother of a seven year old, full time student , and a fulltime employee. I live in Landover with my elderly mother and we are constantly subjected to the crime and disturbance of our neighbors. We are constantly facing eviction because the rent is so expensive to pay every month. I am trying to provide a better life for us but the circumstances make it so hard. I believe that the women that receive assistance from the county or state have it made compared to the women who struggle to get to work and support their children. I am really frustrated and fed up. I recently applied to add my name to the 2008 waiting list for rental assistance and was turned down. I guess i need to have 4 more kids and choose not to work and not to go school and not take care of my mother in order to recive help from this county or state. I just wish that there were more programs geared to helping the single working parent with mininum income. We should not have to suffer because we want more out of life. I tried to contact the housing authority on several occasion and was just transfered to someone's voicemail and never get any anwsers. Please, Please , Please let me know if there are any programs that I may qualify for. Thanks for Listening
Apparently I can't give a news story more than one major category tag. I don't know why I didn't notice this before. So stories like the ones about kids being kicked out of school for not having vaccinations and the county threatening to arrest parents can't be labeled with all 3: Education, Heath, and Politics. If you have a suggestion for how this can be done, please let me know.

Just a note from the person who created this blog: To let you know about my addition of the tag "racial". I'm studying anti-racism and I notice racial content in soooo many articles. So I decided to see what percentage of the articles contain racial content. If you're interested here's a link to my personal anti-racism resources page.
